Oh, for the loss of the glorious Moorish al-Andalus!This album by Ibn Arabi Ensemble captures the sublime beauty and wonder of classical music and Sufi poetry that has long lost. Featuring traditional instruments such as Arabic 'oud, ney and qanun, along with more recent additions such as the violin, this album is very faithful to centuries-old tradition. While there are more incredible instrumental tracks of this album, including a couple of pieces Taqsim improvisation, the real gems are from the sung poetry. Songs of love, loss and human connection to the divine plan in all of these issues first Sufi influence.'Leila has robbed me of my reason', 'Her Words Bring Me to Life Again' and 'The Man in Love admitted that he will be taken for a fool' all in tune with the wisdom of Sufism. Listeners familiar with the story of Laila and Majnoun and / or Pakistani qawwali will understand perfectly. There is also a tasliya written by Ibn Arabi himself, a fitting tribute to the inspiration of the whole. I would strongly recommend anyone interested in the roots of classical Arabic music check this out....
