(A round-bodied stringed instrument like a guitar), has performed internationally acclaimed. Founding member of the State turkish Music Ensemble, his compositions have been presented in New York and Istanbul and have won awards for documentary film and television music worldwide. He teaches composition, theory, world music, and the Middle East and Central Asian music as a member of the UCLA Ethnomusicology Department. He released an album of his work entitled The Art of the Ud turkish (AEM, 2009) have both received critical acclaim internationally.
